Dear Friends,

We are today adding two extraordinary pieces to our update of last week. The Royal Ashanti Ghana ceremonial crown and fly whisk, and the large Toma Liberia dance mask are both old, world class pieces which we are proud to be able to present.

These pieces join the dozen newly acquired pieces of quality African & other tribal sculpture, all with excellent provenance, posted last week.

We are also pleased to present some of the latest work of brilliant architectural photographer Claudio Santini. Born and raised in Rome, Santini's work has appeared in noted architectural publications world wide. His books includeThe Eco-Friendly House: Green is Beautiful (2009). He has been working more recently on photographs of vernacular architecture of Italy created by ordinary people, and hidden architecture, some quite ancient, of Gaza.

In his presentation (click here), Santini focuses his lense on the neighborhoods of westside Los Angeles, his adopted home. The work is an exploration of the California lifestyle of these communities near the Pacific Ocean, each with its own character, and manifesting in Santini's words "our innate desire for the ideal habitat".
