JOHN BAEDER Master of photorealism

⟵ Previous | Next ⟶

“I was thinking of leaving the advertising business. I did a little drawing... and then I totally forgot about it.”

Otto & Mickey's, 1971.
Prismacolor drawing, 6 7/8” x 8 1/8 in.
John Baeder identifies this as his earliest work as a professional artist, and the only work he ever did in color pencil (click on images for close-up views). This work was rediscovered recently in a search of the artist archives. Presented for the first time as a framed triptych: the work; the reverse with artist notes; and the 2020 essay by curator Jay Williams, signed by Baeder and Williams.
