Yoruba Stool, Nigeria Wood And Traces Of Old Pigment Circa 1930.

These Yoruba stools are rare. Some were owned by hunters and used in rituals before the hunt. This stool has a Yoruba female figure with tapered blocks fitted (but not attached) to the crown and base of the piece. The female figure found in this piece is similar to one found in the veranda posts that stand in front of, and support the roof of, an “Afin” (shrine).
